2005 Pro Street 601+ System.

The car is a 2000 Pontiac Firehawk. What is that ? It's a Firebird Formula underneath, complete with the 335 horsepower corvette LS1 power plant, but then it is shipped to SLP Engineering, where a custom suspension, chrome wheels, custom hood, and Firehawk graphics are added. Less then 1000 a year were made. Only 741 were made in the year 2000.

For 2004, I decided to step up a bit, and started competing in Street X 601+. IASCA's Street X is an expert level class, with sound judging from both seats, and no restrictions on what you can and can't do to the car. This install has been a constant evolution over 2 seasons of competing, before becoming what you see here. It is still evolving, with some more tweaks and upgrades planned already for the 2006 season. Pictured below is the setup that took 3rd place at IASCA Finals .

Under the hood, all main cables were upgraded. The stock alternator supplies current to the Optima Yellow Top battery through 4 gauge cable. The battery grounds to the engine block with 8 gauge cable, and to the chassis with 1/0 cable. The vehicle power distribution is fed by 8 gauge, while the audio system is fed with 1/0 cable.

The entire interior was rebuilt from the ground up. A custom, smaller, smoother dash is trimmed in carbon fiber. An Alpine cd-player is mounted in the center. Lighting and A/C controls were relocated underneath. A Harman Traffic Pro navigation unit is mounted in the front of a custom center consol. JBL and Infinity speakers are located in the kickpanels behind large metal grills.

Behind the seats is the enclosure for the 2 JBL subwoofers. A carbon fiber "waterfall" trim panel hides the system's fuses.
In the hatch, 4 JBL amps are sunk into a built up floor. Rear surround speakers are installed in the custom side panels. A carpteted panel covers the rear storare / t-top well.
